The Outpost is located in the heart of some of the most beautiful country in the Canadian Rockies about 50 miles west of Sundre, Alberta.
Restricted vehicle access guarantees no traffic and creates an historic atmosphere by limited travel to horseback, wagon, or stagecoach. Guests have even ventured in on foot, or mountain bike.
The Banff National Park boundary lies 440 meters south of The Outpost perimeter. Banff National Park is Canada’s first national park, and boasts some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. The Ya Ha Tinda Ranch land boundary is approximately 800 meters to the north. The Ya Ha Tinda Ranch sits on 10,000 acres of prairie grasslands and is home to a few ranch hands and more than 150 horses used by Parks Canada wardens and researchers in each of its Mountain parks. The Ya Ha Tinda provides the setting for miles of horse and hiker friendly trails. The Outpost sits on 12 acres, right in between these historic and protected locations. To the east and west of The Outpost, the elevation rises sharply to Warden Rock and Wapiti Mountains. How lucky are we to be able to welcome you to our secluded hideaway, and the best kept secret in the Canadian Rockies.
The Outpost sits right on the banks of the Red Deer River, as it flows from Banff National Park. Breathtakingly beautiful with its turquoise waters, it provides us with a year round water source, and acts as a temperature moderator for the lower valley. This part of the river never freezes, nor does our geothermal drinking water spring!
Our remote backcountry location offers truly unparalleled beauty! The perfect place to lose yourself, or even find yourself, and get back to the simple things in life that really matter!
